Bio:

Elizabeth (affectionately known as “Liz”) Cooper is a poet and author, and a native from the sister state of North Carolina.

She developed a talent for writing poetry at an early age as a favorite pastime.  Since retirement, her daily passion for in-depth study of God’s Word has afforded her to share her God-given talent, referring to herself as a “keyboard warrior.”

Liz has been published in various media sources, newsletters and publications, including The Chattanooga Times Free Press, Chattanooga News Chronicle, Good News Magazine and The Worker - National Study Guide and Living Your Best Life.

As a breast cancer survivor for 26 years, Liz has been devoted to giving thanks to God for her healing. She has been an advocate for the American Cancer Society (including serving as a legislative ambassador for the State of Tennessee in Washington, D.C. and Nashville to lobby elected officials for funding for treatment, prevention and research, as well as being a spokesperson for local radio, TV, churches, book clubs and recreation centers.

Serving as a caregiver for her late mother, Liz became an advocate for the Alzheimer’s Association. In 2019, Liz wrote and self-published her first book dedicated as a tribute to her mother entitled “Letters to Momma Jean.”

In addition to her ministry, she is a member of the Mayor’s Council for Women (health committee).  Liz and her husband are members of Second Missionary Baptist Church, serving in numerous capacities there. They enjoy spending time with the family (daughters, grandkids and others), traveling, watching movies, theater plays and special events.
