“Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NASB)

I longed to know God even as a young child. Brought up as a Buddhist, I finally found the peace that I had thirsted for when I met Jesus. I wanted my unsaved Daddy and my sister to know that same peace and I prayed daily for them.

Little did I know as I rushed across thousands of miles to Australia because my sister’s aorta had split, God had finally answered my prayers. I will never forget my all night vigil as I sat beside Gail, totally exhausted. I can still hear myself praying, telling her God loved her, repeating the Psalms I had loved, leaned upon, and memorized over the years - even though she was unconscious and emergency personnel were hovering over her.

When the surgeon said there was nothing he can do, I made a frantic call to my husband in Chattanooga and he quietly said, “With God nothing is impossible.” I got down on my knees in that crowded waiting room and cried out with tears unchecked, “O God, give me her spiritual life even if you take her away!” Miraculously, she made it through. Patched up and unable to speak above an almost inaudible whisper because her vocal cord had been damaged in the frantic attempt to save her, she is still alive today after seven years!

Post surgery I found Gail crying, wanting to die. I held both her hands in mine and told her how much I loved her and how very much God loved her. She whispered with a desperate longing in her voice, “I want to find Him.” Still holding her hands, I whispered, “He is right here with us. Tell Jesus you love Him and you want Him to save you.”

I know my Jesus must have cried with me when Gail put out her hand, accepting His love, and whispering in the voice that she is now let with, “I will not be sad if I go to be with You now - only for the ones I must leave behind.” For 25 long years, I had faithfully prayed every single day for my dad and sisters, and God proved Himself faithful in bringing my sister, Gail, into His kingdom.
