Rest

It seems everyone these days is yearning for rest. A chance to get away from a demanding, hectic job with long hours. A chance to slow down a busy schedule where every minute of our day is dictated by the needs of others. A chance to be with family--to laugh, to play, to eat, to reconnect. All necessary,--rest from the daily grind, rest from a fast-paced life, rest form physical exhaustion rest from tending to others--but what about rest for our souls?

Matthew 11:28-30: "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul."

The key here is "COME TO ME." The Lord is waiting. For the tired, the restless, the over-extended. When we go to His word, he nourishes our soul, calms our Spirit, rejuvenates from within. Time spent with Him, in His word, in prayer, is the deepest kind of rest. It rests the soul.
