Hope For a Hopeless World

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
Luke 2:11 NIV

Christmas music is playing loud and proud in my car. Daddy is slowly tolerating it more and more. Each year I add new ones, contemporary and traditional, hymns and songs for the boys like Alvin and the Chipmunk, their current favorite. Hearing my son, Maddox yell: “Alvin!” is one of my favorite parts of car rides lately.

Growing up, one of my favorite Christmas traditions was attending the Christmas Eve services at our church and singing Christmas hymns. Then we went to my grandparents’ where my Nana and my great-Aunt Polly had made us a wonderful meal. Breaking bread together, worship services, fellowship - all traditions that inevitably look different for all of us.

Because of the pandemic, it feels like more than one year has passed since last Christmas. And yet…we will celebrate the birth of our Savior, as we will every year. He is our King, yesterday, today, and forever. I highly recommend the song “Hallelujah”, sung by Carrie Underwood. Despite all the changes this year has brought, Christ is born and our Savior has come. Hallelujah! Hope for a hopeless world.
