Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy that it cannot hear.
— Isaiah 59:1 (KJV)

While on a mission trip to Sudan evangelizing on the mountainsides, I came upon a very old man sitting under a tree by the side of the road. It was as though he was waiting for someone or something special. I stopped and looked into those kindly old eyes and asked if he knew Jesus. He said “No” but he wanted to. It was as though I could really sense the presence of the Holy Spirit. My heart just melted as I continued to look into his eyes. There was something drawing me to him. I lowered myself to the ground next to him and began to share the Gospel. With a smile on his wrinkled old face, he prayed and received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior with such reverence. Tears just seemed to overflow from my eyes and as I looked, I could see his eyes too were full. Taking my arm with much earnestness, he said to me, “Now I want a new name.” Wow! “Joseph” has his new name not only here but also written in glory. He had a new name and was a new creature in Christ!

God’s arm can reach to the farthest places in the world. His ear, ever listening to the hearts of men everywhere, will provide for us. God doesn’t want any to perish, but for all to come to Him. I can’t wait to see “Joseph” again. Before I left him that day, I did tell him that if I never see him again here on earth, I will surely see him in heaven.

I thank God for His faithfulness - always. He continually seeks after all men, everywhere, even you and me.
